Where Would We Be Without Our Friends?

The power of the NFB lies in its name.  It is the National Federation of the Blind…the blind speaking for themselves.  It is sometimes said, “We are the blind who lead the blind” and, indeed, the NFBCO is the largest membership organization of the blind in Colorado.  BUT, friends, family members and supporters of all kinds are extremely important to our organization.  Our friends, sighted and blind, work with us in our efforts to reach out to others, and address our common problems.  Our valuable friends include:

  • Political Allies:  The NFBCO works tirelessly to educate and inform the members of the Colorado Legislature and the Governor about the issues affecting our members.  The highlight of that effort occurs in February when the NFBCO holds its annual “Day at the Capitol”.  Dozens of members from across the state gather at the state capitol to meet with every legislator and share our highest priority concerns.  We have been fortunate to have developed many strong relationships with members of the House and Senate over the years and thank our political friends for their past support.
  • Volunteers:  We invite members of the community to join with us as volunteers.   Opportunities exist for drivers, readers, technical computer support, assistance in fundraising and much more.  Call 303-778-1130 to inquire about volunteering.
  • Financial Contributors:  Among our friends we count those who have so generously contributed to our organization in the past.  As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization the NFBCO depends on fundraising and outside contributions to carry on its work.  Become a friend of the National Federation of the Blind of Colorado by making a contribution today.  (Click here for contact informaton or click here to donate.)
