The NFB Bell Academy is a two week program designed to offer pre-kindergarten through elementary age students an opportunity to be exposed to Braille and increase the use of nonvisual skills.  At the NFB BELL Academy, students receive daily instruction to develop their tactile skills and confidence.  Kids come to have fun, make friends, play games, and have experiences that build skills.   There will be two BELL camps this year.  The BELL program in Colorado Springs is being held from June 20-July 1, 2016 at the Colorado Springs Garden Ranch YMCA from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The second BELL camp will be held in Westminster area from July 18 through July 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The programs will be led by certified Braille teachers as well as others who love Braille and use it every day.  There is no cost to attend, but families will be encouraged to volunteer at least one day during the programs.   Cash donations will also be appreciated.  Transportation will be the family’s responsibility.   Michelle Chacon is the program director and lead teacher for the Westminster program.  She can be reached at 303-507-6291 or at nfbco.bell@gmail.com.  Kaitlin Lombardi will be the lead teacher for the Colorado Springs program and can be contacted at nfbco.bell@gmail.com.   Carolyn Sanchez is the administrative assistant and can be contacted at nfbco.bell@gmail.com.
